Crafty Thieves Pull Off $50 Million Diamond Heist at Brussels Airport

diamond-heistWe think that the script for the next “Ocean’s 14” just wrote itself. Eight masked men drove through the security fence at Brussels International Airport and stole $50 million worth of diamonds from a Swiss-bound plane – all without firing a shot.

These men, dressed as police, kept airport works at gunpoint while they unloaded the Switzerland-bound Helvetic Airways plane. A haul of 120 packages and $50 million in uncut diamond were taken from the hold, which was accessible from the outside. Meanwhile, the rest of the passengers on the plane had no idea what was going on as they waited for the plane to take off. From start to finish, the job took only five minutes to complete.

Police are now reconstructing the crime, trying to determine how the robbers blasted their way through the perimeter fence. All that the criminals left behind was a burned-out vehicle discovered near the airport.

So, what do you say George Clooney? Are you in for the remake of this crime? Who else should be in this movie? Cast your vote in the comments section below.

About Amy Tokic

A huge fan of free Wi-Fi in airport lounges, Amy Tokic usually fills the 3-hour wait time before her flight leaves by catching up on her writing assignments. She misses those little packages of peanuts they used to give out on flights and doesn’t mind sitting in the aisle seat. Amy likes writing about the sordid underbelly of airport intrigue with strange and usual stories that probably won’t make the 6 o’clock news.

I’m not sure who should be cast in the heist team, but I vote for Kevin Spacey to be cast as the diamond boss who is crapping himself right now.
