Halifax – This week, a loose cat delayed an Air Canada flight for over 4 hours. Probably unhappy with the prospect of sitting in coach, the curious cat escaped its carrier and made a run for the cockpit as other passengers were still boarding the plane. The cat, named Ripples, somehow managed to get behind the cockpit panel and into the wiring where he sat for the next few hours. In an effort to calm him down and coax him away from his bed of electrical wires, the pilots turned off the engine and all the power on the plane. When that failed, the maintenance crew were called in to take apart the cockpit. After 3 hours, employees were finally able to retrieve Ripples and return him to the carrier. The maintenance crew inspected the area to ensure the cat did not cause any damage before reassembling the panels and re-boarding the passengers. The flight, which was originally scheduled to depart Halifax at 530am, finally departed for Toronto at 10am.   [ read more ]

When the woman arrived in the UK, she discovered the ashes were missing. US Airways was unable to find them.   [ read more ]

Auckland – A teenager has been arrested for pointing lasers at aircraft flying above Auckland.  And get this, he was caught while “lasering” the police officers searching for him. Police say the 18-year-old pointed the laser at three separate aircraft as they came in to land – temporarily blinding the air crew.  He later pointed the laser at a police helicopter that was trying to find out where the laser was coming from. The teen faces four charges of endangering transport. Each charge carries a term of 14 years imprisonment. Idiot!  [ read more ]
